Once the rune warrior had talked with Marcia at Stonewell, she revealed that large groups of undead had broken through the portal from Greydusk Vale.

Marcia then recommended the warrior to talk to Lord Jonir Hallit. He revealed that the forces of House Hallit had been pushed back to the southern pass but since their numbers had gone down massively they need alot of support.

The rune marches beneath my banner... had anyone prophesied that, I would have called him a fool. Do not get me wrong, rune warrior. I appreciate your assistance.
Lord Jonir about the rune warrior's help

Creating an army[]

The rune warrior took control of the elven monument in the north-east. Especially ranged fighters should be build since the forces of House Hallit in the south have melee-based fighters but lack any form of distance support.

Jonir suggested the rune warrior to talk to General Gunthar Gunham in the south-west for tactical information. General Gunham led the forces and warned the rune warrior that soon three waves of undead would approach from the Greydusk Vale.

For days, Castle Stonewell has been under attack by undead armies from the south. [...] Our dwarf guard has abandoned us! We are at the end of our strength. After our last action, General Gunthar expects the next attack wave from the undead at any time.
Lord Jonir about the situation

Defending the Pass[]

The pass has two hills next to the small entrance. The ranged elven fighters can use the cliffs to be protected from melee attacks but the elves should pay attention to ranged undead units.

We need marksmen on the rocks. Bring every man you have got and position them to the right and left up there along the pass. My men will hold the passage in close combat.
General Gunthar Gunham telling his battle plans
  • Wave 1:
Minor melee skeletons with little to no ranged support.
  • Wave 2:
Stronger skeleton and zombie fighters with bowmen as ranged support.
  • Wave 3:
Stronger skeleton and zombie fighters with bowmen and ice skeletons as ranged support.

Pushing back the Undead[]

Once the final wave had been defeated the remaining human forces were beginning to march towards the portal to Greydusk Vale. The portal was guarded by lots of skeletons led by two powerful fighters, Ashdigger and Kishan.

Together with the help of the elven rune army the undead in front of the portal were obliterated after a tough fight. After the place in front of the portal had been secured, General Gunthar Gunham thanked the rune warrior and advised to go back to Lord Jonir to inform him about their victory.

Rune warrior! Without you, our heads would be stuck on the top of their swords. Lord Jonir will be delighted. Go see him. You would surely like to get your reward, hu?

Tips and tricks[]

  • The ramps next to the passageway are small but they would have place for elven wood towers. Sadly there are some trees on it so it would be advised to use your workers there to get rid of the trees as soon as possible. Then you could place towers. The advantage is that towers cannot be attacked by enemy distance fighters whereas the lightly armored elven archers can.
    • Windarchers are the best possible choice here. Not only will their Trueshot ability increase the damage dealt, they also do have considerable range and can inflict Iceburst on attacks.
  • Placing a few healers beyond the Hallit forces will prove as useful addition too. The main force of the blockade consists of simple fighters without any capability of healing. Thus healing spells will greatly benefit them.
  • If you're playing as a white mage, try to use Hallow. Most of the enemies here are undead and will take heavy damage from it.
