Castagir was a human mage of the house of Wulfgar appearing in SpellForce: The Order of Dawn.

Background information[]

When the future Phoenix Bearer came to the south of Greyfell, he first met the frightened scholar. He was rather paranoid and was stating, that an unseen and dangerous threat was endangering the entirety of Eo: The Shadows.

Researching the Shadows[]

These beings were originally not from Eo but from another dimension beyond the world. However no one among the higher authorities was believing in them. Castagir's old master had been murdered by these beings but sadly Castagir had no proof.

The rune warrior was able to obtain a Shadow Ring after having killed The Shadow in the Northern Windwalls. But only with the help of Rigour Mortis, the ring was reenchanted to full power.

With the ring in his posession, the Phoenix Bearer was finally able to find true clues about the shadows. At the southern pass in the Northern Windwalls next to General Gunthar Gunham's former blockade, she even was able to obtain a book, the Shadow Manifest. With its help, the first solid proof was in Rigour Mortis' and Castagir's hand.

With the scribbles left behind in the book, Castagir was also able to uncover how the shadows made it into Nortander in the first place. Since the shadows were from outside Eo, they were forced to use an anchor - something that would help them in breaking through the borders separating the world: The Shadow Crystal was found at the Howling Mounds.

The Eternal Song[]

When another rune warrior - futurely known as the Messenger - attempted to help Nightsong in solving the puzzle of the Eternal Song about the prophecy made by the bard Angar Arandir, the Messenger was asked to search out Rigour Mortis too. However at that time he had already been killed by the shadows. by the time the Messenger returned to Nightsong, Castagir had arrived.

It has begun! What I have feared all these years. The shadows have found a path into our world, once and for all. Someone is going to create a gate for them. And that will bond with one of the foks and with their help, they are going to send our world into a final, long night.
— Castagir about the Long Night

He was shocked to hear that his old friend Rigour had died, but he pressed onwards. The Shadows now only are in Eo in minor numbers but someone was attempting to broaded the passages by creating a gate for them. Said individual would also induce an enomous war after having bonded the shadows with some of the six major races.

Quest involvement[]

Trivia[]

Castagir's researches were pretty much predicting the shadows' arrival and their inclusion within the Pact as it was later shown in the Shadow Wars in SpellForce 2: Shadow Wars.
