The Materia Prima was a mysterious ingredient sought after by Janus Malacay in his researches for the Hybernian Empire and later during his fight against the gods of Eo.

Background information[]
When the All-Father Aonir created Eo he used his divine power to create life from inanimate matter. No one - not even the guardians - were able to create life from scratch. At most they were able to twist life and give it another form such as Zarach did when he had created the dark races but creating life itself was entirely impossible. Janus Malacay had a theory though that the blood of the firstborn such as the dragons and the elves of old were still harbouring some of the old power of the All-Father.
Birth of the Shaikan[]
When the dragon hunters of the Hybernian Empire dragged Ur in front of the emperor, he demanded the great dragon for his own research. He was able to merge his own human blood with the dragon's and was able to create an hybrid race with remnants of the old races: The Shaikan were born.

Creation of the Malar[]
Malar, powerful twisted beings born from Janus Malacay's experiments with the Materia Prima.
But Malacay did not stop there. The dragon's blood contained much more power and he was just starting to understand it. He was able to extract the so-called Materia Prima in its purest form and used it to create an entirely new race: The Malar. These beings were so strange and without any connection to Aonir's creation that the guardians took Malacay's experiments as heresy against their father and intervened, when the Malar were threatening to overrun the known world.
