The Firefangs were a devasteted fiery wastelands close to the Crimson Empire's capital of Shal'Dun appearing in SpellForce: The Breath of Winter.

Background information[]

When Shal'Dun was founded as the capital of the Crimson Empire, the Firefangs first had been one of the most holy places devoted to the god Zarach. However during the Aryn Crisis the area had been abandoned since the dangerous lava outbreaks were making living here extremely dangerous.

Additionally the Fial Darg had declared the area as a forbidden zone because he had placed the dangerous Shadowblade here under the guardiance of his trusted servant, the Fireangel.

In order to fight the Fial Darg the future Shadow Warrior arrived at the Firefangs after Shal'Dun had been conquered. Grim revealed the Shadowblade to him after having been tortured by Lena's ice magic. The rune warrior was immediately recognized telepathically by said demon but he had considered him as an ally.

The Shadow Warrior helped the Fireangel in suppressing the free roaming shadows. With the Flames of Zarach the holy fires were lit again and the shadows were banished within the Shadowblade. However the Fireangel then discovered the Shadow Warrior's true intentions and attempted to stop him from obtaining the weapon. He failed though and was killed in combat.

Farnhard's map[]

According to Flink McWinter the legendary adventurer Farnhard had found a valueable treasure on his journeys. Since he had been on the run from his pursuers, he had hidden the treasure somewhere. He left behind a hint for his companions by having created a map in the terrain of the Firefangs. He then proceeded and created a statue indicating the exact point of the treasure's location in Fastholme.

Geography[]

The center of the island was a mountaineous area with a dark elf and hero monument but with only sparse amount of resources. To get access to those resources, one would have to descend from the mountain to get access to the iron and moonsilver deposits. All-across the island lots of ruins from previous settlements of the Crimson Empire were found but they were almost reduced to nothing more than rubble. Only in the south the biggest fortress was still relatively intact led by the Fireangel.
