The Rune Wars were a series of events taking place between the first fights of rune warriors during the Convocation wars until the end of the rune magic with the Circle's demise at the Bone Temple.

The Circle's rune armies[]

During the Circle's prime era the powerful mages utilized their powers to forge the souls of mortals to rune stones. That way they hoped to create an immortal army that would grow stronger and stronger with each fight fought.

When the mages then began to start their internal struggles, the rune armies then were used against each other, until the Primal Elements shattered the continents and obliterated almost all of the Circle and their armies.

Magical creatures are powerful, but generally inexperienced. Experienced soldiers, on the other hand, are mortal and of wavering loyalty. And so the Circle called the rune warriors into being. They forged the warriors' souls and life force to the runes and secured the fighters' loyalty. And all the things experienced in endless wars preserved within them. A perfect weapon

The Phoenix Bearer as she was shown in a concept art of Phenomic Game Development

Eight years after the Convocation the surviving circle mage Rohen Tahir brought back a rune warrior: The future Phoenix Bearer. She then began her fight against the Black Fist before discovering a huge scheme. The Dark One was rallying huge armies and was threatening to overthrow the area and thus the Phoenix Bearer began to fight against him.

The Aryn Crisis[]

WinterDragon Aryn

The great dragon Aryn was reawakening due to Cenwen's abduction by the hands of a Fial Darg.

A few years after the Battle of Fiara concluded on Nortander, another rune warrior was brought back by Lena and Grim in Urgath. He would soon become known as a leader of the Mirraw Thur Resistance and fight against the Crimson Empire. All this to prevent Aryn from reawakening because of Cenwen's abduction by the hands of a Fial Darg. The Shadow Warrior slaughtered the dark prince and prevented the Eternal Winter at the cost of dooming his existence to become a shadow in the future.

End of the (reborn) Circle[]

Belial as he has merged with Hokan Ashir with the help of his circle mages before he would be destroyed by the two rune warriors.

Around fifteen years after the Convocation, fate brought together the Phoenix Bearer and the Shadow Warrior in the southern continent of Xu. The doomed warrior was looking for a way to ease the pains caused by the Shadowblade while the keeper of the Phoenix Stone was going after Darius Servil's letters to find the Dryad of the Life Tree. Their fates then became entwined as they found out that Hokan Ashir was attempting to fuse with the demi-god Belial. The two rune warriors stood together and unleashed the Phoenix and destroyed the reborn circle once and for all. This also ended the era of rune magic as now no one was left to use it properly.

Author's note[]

Some sources claim that the Rune Wars began with the Battle of Fiara, some others do claim that the era of the Convocation had also been inside this era as well. Since Darius Servil was extremely knowledgeable and was claiming the second opinion, I chose to write it that way in this article because of the scribe's personal background.
