In the games of the second SpellForce series there are lots of different spells and abilities, that one avatar or hero could use to obliterate the enemies. However there are lots of different requirements and other stats that need to be looked at. Thus this article sums up all necessary information regarding skills in SpellForce 2: Shadow Wars, SpellForce 2: Dragon Storm, SpellForce 2: Faith in Destiny and SpellForce 2: Demons of the Past.

Base Stats

Those stats are of absolute importance and ignoring them will lead to your character's demise sooner or later.

  • Health
    The character's current and maximum life points which indicates how much ingoing damage a character can sustain before being defeated and killed on the battle fields.
  • Mana
    The character's current and maximum mana points. Mana is used to cast spells and abilities. When not having enough mana reserves the character is unable to cast new or to sustain channeled abilities.
  • Armor
    The amount of physical damage that can be absorbed from each attack. If the ingoing damage is lower than the armor, the attack is repelled entirely.

Abilities

In SpellForce 2, there are a lot of different buffs and debuffs that can be active simultaneously. They are indicated by a keyword first (e.g. Scatter Magic) and then with a more detailed additional info that might vary from effect to effect. For example: Scatter Magic will always have the effect of being able to cast spells on multiple targets but the number of maximum possible targets might vary depending on the unit.

Skill Trees

In SpellForce 2 abilities are learned through leveling up in your skill trees. Upon having spent a point in said trees, the avatar or hero will be given a new ability instantly. This might either be access to new equipment, the access to a new ability or the improving of an already learned ability to a mastered ability. In SpellForce 2: Shadow Wars there were only the Combat and Magic trees and with SpellForce 2: Dragon Storm the Shaikan tree was added ever since.
